I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
What is Baptism? In Romans 6:3-4 the Apostle Paul explains it like this,
Don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
- Confession of Faith: A public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Commitment to Follow: Baptism is seen as a sign of a believer's commitment to follow Jesus Christ and live a life in obedience to his teachings.
- Age of Reason: Baptism is an exciting event, but we believe that a child must be the age of reason, meaning that they understand the significance of the choice they are making, they understand sin, and the need of a savior. Although this can be hard to determine we believe that age to be 7 years old.
Baptism is such a powerful step in your walk with Jesus. It’s more than just going under the water—it’s an outward declaration of the inward change Christ has made in you. On October 4th, we’re celebrating water baptisms at VCC, and we’d love for you to be part of it. Let’s celebrate new life together!
